Luxembourg Festival 2015
The Luxembourg Festival 2015 brings together outstanding productions by the Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg and the Philharmonie in October and November:
Opera and music theatre: The Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert & Sullivan, directed by Mike Leigh, and William Kentridge’s version of Schubert’s Winterreise, featuring Matthias Goerne and Markus Hinterhäuser
Dance: Rachel Swain, Dalisa Pigram, and Serge Aimé Coulibaly: «Cut the Sky»; Angelin Preljocaj’s «Retour à Berratham», with a cast of fourteen; a ‹contemporary circus› production, David Bobée’s «Dios proveerá», with eleven acrobats from La Gata CirKo (Bogotá) and a baroque music ensemble; and Shaun Parker & Company’s «Am I», with seven dancers and seven musicians
Orchestra: the London Symphony Orchestra with Valery Gergiev and Yefim Bronfman; the Cleveland Orchestra with Franz Welser-Möst; the OPL with Gustavo Gimeno and Isabelle Faust; the Freiburger Barockorchester with Gottfried von der Goltz and Christian Gerhaher; the Lucerne Festival Orchestra with Andris Nelsons; the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra with Kazushi Ono and Vadim Repin; the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra with Sakari Oramo and Lisa Batiashvili
Recital: Magdalena Kožená and Mitsuko Uchida; Krystian Zimerman; Philippe Jaroussky and Jérôme Ducros
Film-concert: Hitchcock’s The Lodger with new film music
